I seen this on Slashdot and I had to ask why isn't the American public being informed about this stuff before it's signed?

QUOTE
In a stealth maneuver, President Bush has signed into law a provision which, according to Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont), will actually encourage the President to declare federal martial law (1). It does so by revising the Insurrection Act, a set of laws that limits the President's ability to deploy troops within the United States. The Insurrection Act (10 U.S.C.331 -335) has historically, along with the Posse Comitatus Act (18 U.S.C.1385), helped to enforce strict prohibitions on military involvement in domestic law enforcement. With one cloaked swipe of his pen, Bush is seeking to undo those prohibitions.

Public Law 109-364, or the "John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007" (H.R.5122) (2), which was signed by the commander in chief on October 17th, 2006, in a private Oval Office ceremony, allows the President to declare a "public emergency" and station troops anywhere in America and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities, in order to "suppress public disorder."

President Bush seized this unprecedented power on the very same day that he signed the equally odious Military Commissions Act of 2006. In a sense, the two laws complement one another. One allows for torture and detention abroad, while the other seeks to enforce acquiescence at home, preparing to order the military onto the streets of America. Remember, the term for putting an area under military law enforcement control is precise; the term is "martial law."

If we're the example of democracy this isn't the best example of "We the people"...

Just my little rant cool.gif

I just sit here with my eyes closed wondering what is happening to America. We are spending Billions on War and Millions on a fence to protect America. I think the protection we need is from our own government.
I could go on and on about this but, will just list several points that have gone ignored for years and are destroying America from the inside out.
1. Education- Remember I am from Florida so I do not know about schools in your area. Our schools are worse than Africa and Mexico, teachers do not get paid enough and not enough is done to keep schools and students educated. (Excuse the spelling, blame my schools)
2. Medical- We need socialized medicine. Drugs cost way too much money at least in America. In Mexico and Canada prices are much better. We have to wait hours in emergency rooms because no one can afford a doctor and must go to the emergency room to get free treatment. Lawyers should not be able to sue doctors; their mistakes should go before a peer review board.
3. Federal waste- Space program cost billions but, cannot we fix the above to issues before we waste money here.
4. Senators and Congressmen - should only be allowed to stay in office 8 years. They should be paid the same as a military officer. Hell, they get kick backs from corporations why should they get fat pay checks too. We elect the morons; we should be able to un-elect them. This way, if enough people see a senator or congress person not listening to his voters then they can be removed; the president too, for that matter.
5. Come up with a fair profit system; stop the corporations from making 1000% profit. People are getting raped by this system called fair market price were monopolies like Microsoft are charging tooooooo much for crap.

FYI- Elect me, I will make the best dictator in the world.
FYI- yes, I am thinking of moving to Mexico and Canada just the weather is too cold in Canada and Mexico, well Mexico, I cannot find a way to make money there.
