My grandma is selling her house, and when she moves, she wants to get a good sound system to go with her 50" plasma. I was wondering which amps would be best and what mixing device to use. Now, i don't think she wants a recording studio in her living room, so don't go all crazy and tell me a "Soundcraft GB8 38 channel".

However, i want this system to be POWERFUL dribble.gif and would like nice sound. Im thinking of eiather getting about 4 crown amps or a monster amp that i found (Link). However, I don't know what to use to mix the input from the dvd player, tv, cd, cassete, ect. players. Any help would be appreicated. (also, any help would be appriecated in the amp section of this too.

You grandma has a 50inch plasma. And wants a nice sound system. At that age i would be lucky if i could hear and not be to picky on some expensive sound system. I have never done any home theater stuff so i can give you any advice.

I think you might want to try a dedicated home theatre system forum, most of the people here dont spend $3000+ on amps

I use a Pioneer VSX-C301 which is worth about $500-$600 and would appear to do everything you need, and its powerful, however if you want to spend $3000+ you can probably do better!

Depending on the room and its location in the house I would suggest sound proofing the room as well. That way the sound doesn't bounce off the walls or travel into other parts of the house. With the amount of money she spent on the plasma and will spend on the sound system I don't think the foam will make a big dent in the wallet.

Well, the plasma was about 5 grand, and she is probably willing to spend that on the sound, too.
