Well to start off how can you an AMD user even be thinking of changing to a SLOWER and more expensive!! You have also not told us what it will be used for? What sort of person will be using it either.

Well if it just the web the usual gumpf that you use a PC for, I would either keep the one you have its not that slow after all. Or get a AMD Sempron, save yourself a lil bit of money.

I personally would not recommend any current Intel to anybody, all Intel PC's I have used even ones I have fixed up to my spec are no where near as fast as any AMD machine I have used. Every time without fail Intel are slow and AMD are fast. AMD are also a good bit cheaper as well.

For pretty much everything other than true multitasking, the 805 is significantly slower than your 3000+. Some people have claimed to overclock the 805 to 3.0GHz in which case it may actually be on par with your 3000 (maybe).

Just keep in mind that the 805 is grossly underpowered when compared to most of todays processors.

I have my cheap old Sempron. Never had any issues with it and its a nice price.

yup, get a sempron. best bet for an affordable second pc, and the performance isnt as terrible as intel's tongue.gif

I have a P4 3Ghz with HT that I can OC to 3.62 Ghz and it still can't touch a friends AMD 64 3200. I would stay with AMD, personally. cool2.gif

It is very good for overclocking for a dual core processor and it is cheap. Personally I will choose it over Sempron.
