hey, sry im not sure if this is in the right forum, but how do u format your hard drvie (other then bringing it to a person that will do it for you)?
as well what are the consequences, other then losing all the files and documents (i already have them backed up)?, like alot of my stuff is "plug and play" (drives)....
Thx

k so after a little yahooing (which i should've done in the first place, but i was lazy

) i figured that im supposed to have a boot disk... i downloaded one of
bootdisk.com, and then i formated my floppy to be a msdos start-up disk. Everything went fine, untill i was supposed to type "format c: /s". it just told me Bad Command. what am i doin wrong?

so i restarted again and tried both
format c: /s and format c: /q
none worked and i only get the msg "bad command or file [something]"
when i tried it in the command prompt it didn't work for /s, but for /q it asked for a volume label? <-- maybe if i locate that i can do it....

Lemme ask you a few questions...
1) What are you planning to do after you format?
2) Do you have a Windows XP CD?
3) Which bootdisk did you download off bootdisk.com?

Maybe your computer learning curve should be improved before you take on the task you are proposing but, anyway, do this:
put a floppy in the drive and from Windows Explorer, right click your A: drive and select format. Tick the option, create an MSDOS startup disk. Go ahead and format your floppy.
Now look in Windows/System32 and copy the program Format.com to the floppy.
If you now boot from you floppy, you will be able to format your hard disk.
