I'd guess it would be Australian dollars, so that would be ~$2927USD...
Take off 50% for the name, and you've got the real price I bet. =P
Or else it could be Alienware funny-money or something.

Alienware computers make me feel like I saved a lot on my pc by building it myself.

WHAT?! That much cash and you only get an 80 GB hard drive?! That's next to nothing nowadays. 17 inch screen not that big either - seems to be about the going size even for cheap machines now.

Alienware systems are always more expensive than similar systems from other OEM's - for whatever reason. As for whether it's worth $4000, I'd say no. You only get an 80GB HD and a 17" LCD - hardly expensive or top of the line equipment...
