I have no idea what you guys are talking about. To me a pixel is a unit of measurement.

WHat is looks like is that a site divides its page into squares(even though they are bigger than pixels) and then sells each square to advertisers.

The thing I really dont get is why would you visit a website..just to look at adverts :/
I mean it works, and people do but I dont see WHY!
Xoria

Because people are fascinated and they might be looking for something that might interest them.

Children, well most of em luv adverts, I like particular adverts, though I would not buy something from an advert till I have weighed up everything.
The million dollar page is hypnotic, this is what advertisers try to achieve.

Since its open id just like to raise a point
The guy who opened the first pixel page (milliondollarhomepage.com) was Alex Tew, he has made $1,000,000 from selling pixels of advertising
Was it through sheer luck? Nope!
Both of his parents were in fact millionaires, his dad works in advertising and he took a year out of university to pitch his idea to top level management with lots of cash floating around to make the idea work, it wasnt just a website that "happened" to work, there was a bloody good reason it did!

We usually take half a year as the limit for when to close it on re-opening

Your better of making money, making and selling the scripts for such style of websites....
Just imagine.. If you sell 52631, million doller scripts at 19 bucks a piece, you will be very close to a million dollers...
Like dabombtom said, you need a source of money to get going such site...
You cant just make a site....

you first need lessons to learn php, then you buy Dreamweaver, and then you buy the webspace, and the internet to upload to your ftp, and you need a pc to run it, which runs on electricity, which has to be paid.. from whos money? Of coarse you have to pay it. Catch my drift...

ummmmm, 52631000000x19 is more than a million, and 52631000000 is more than the number of people in the world

Well the setup cost of a website is really nothing - you could go to a library, get some free webspace and download a free php script then just make a basic template for it. Its the monetary cost of actually getting your site seen out of the other 92 million websites on the internet, and because his was based around purely selling expensive advertising space the chances of it taking off were quite slim without actively pushing sales to large companies with big corporate budgets

2 options. Find an "unlimited host" (obviously fake) and hold them to it. If you had a lot of hits, people would probably be buying your script, there for you make money to buy stuff like hosting and bandwidth
