I have Norton Ghost 9.0 that came with Norton System Works premiere. I was able to make a backup of my C: drive just fine, but to my surprise, the discs aren't bootable, unlike Ghost 2003. According to the help file, you need a "norton ghost" disk or Symantec disaster recovery disk to boot from if you can't get to the hard drive, which is what I need. There are no options under Ghost 9.0 to create a boot disk. How the hell do I do this? I tried using a Ghost 2003 boot disk, but it didn't work because 2003 and 9.0 save files differently and it wouldn't recognize my backup.

1)Install OS and all required software and keep the system ready.
2) Create a dos bootable floppy and copy ghost.exe to floppy.
3)Connect the other HDD as secondary to the prepared system.
4)Boot system with floppy and execute ghost.exe
5)Specify disk to disk and select primary HDD as source and destination as Secondary HDD.
6)Proceed with cloning. This will prepare the other HDD. Fix this disk to other system and start using.
I figure it means a normal xp bootable floppy.

I see. Symantec's help literature seems to elude to a separate Norton Ghost disk that comes with Norton System Works Premiere, but all I have is the one Premiere disk. They keep using the terms "Norton boot CD" or Symantec recovery disk, neither of which I could find any information on, aside from the fact that it's supposed to come with the Norton products. Anyway, I'm going to use Acronis True Image 8 to do my backups. I figured out how to make the boot disk and the first backup seems to be going smoothly. It took a little bit of troubleshooting though. Roxio's drag-to-disc function has to be turned off to create a boot disk, but turned on to burn any backups.

Believe it or not, I did come across a boot image for Ghost 9 - but that was a while back, and I honestly can't remember where I found it.

I think you should contact Symantec Support, I mean after all you did pay for it, so you should get what you payed for.

(I'm assuming you payed for it.)
