I'm going to see The Island today - some say it's good, some say it's not so good. The premise intrigues me so I'm going either way.

To summarize in my own words, it's basically about a society in which a company grows clones for investors. May the day come that an investor falls ill - liver, kidney, heart, eyeballs? The clone is shipped off to "The Island" which is SUPPOSED to be a 'Paradise' and can only be 'won' through the lottery (little do they know they're simply 'parts'). In any case, the main star finds out and that's where all the vehicle chases and explosions begin.

I've always thought that cloning was the start to something scary; well ever since I knew what it was anyway...and that it could be done. Human Nature causes us human beings to act irrationally (and unethically), but pair people's 'fear of sickness/dying' with the almighty dollar and what you get is real darkness. That's my sad point of view. Not saying every person out there is like that - but the majority are. If people can genuinely hate each other for skin color, religion, sexuality, difference in beliefs and just any kind of difference, If we can justify killing a human being in justice because there's 'proof' he/she killed another, If we can justify ending a life because 'technically' it's not really 'alive' "yet", then who knows what can happen a couple years down the line.

My question to you all is - do you think that our world, our society could come to this someday? Think hard before you answer and consider all the things being done in the world today - for money.

I don't think this would ever come to pass. We don't have the technology perfected yet and even if we did, I don't think society would accept it. I think it's immoral.

After actually seeing it, it was rather interesting.

See they grow the clones from organic memory flesh called agnate or something like that. They're truthful about 'products' up until the whole concsiousness thing. Noone knows that these clones are living lives, have emotions or have senses. As far as the investors know, the clones are in a vegetative state and are not truly 'alive'. That was SUPPOSED to be how it was, but the committee that funds the project lead by a Doctor realized there was no way at all to 'keep organs alive' and growing than to have the 'product' live. And thus....terror. There was a part where they were cutting open this guy and he woke up and tried getting away-----so creepy. Also creepy to the max was how non-caring the 'staff' were. They had 0 issues with killing the clones for parts. It's like they looked at them like we look at animals for food....just, products.
