Do you guys think this is a big deal? will other free media players be next?
Singh400
Yeah I can see this affecting other free media players. I can see another torrent like epidemic coming.

Ive been saying for a longtime that patents and copyrighted material slows down technology.

Oh so true P2P would be so much further ahead now! I 100% agree, they would be making billions off of p2p by now, instead of trying to shut it down (which is a hopeless cause)

Software patents are generally a bad thing, but that is only because of a largely incompetent patent office. If we only granted patents on REAL great inventions, like say, a fantastic compression method, instead of "clicking and dragging windows", it might be okay. Same goes for regular patents.

gotta love a nice big waste of money.

Makes you thing what the future holds for Linux distributions and how many patents they are infringing.

This is absolutely the problem. I don't claim to understand the patent approval process, but something isn't right there. It would be interesting to interview some of the patent lawyers who approve these crappy things.

yep it's the sad state of the tech world today, cast your minds back a few years when it didn't matter it was only a few patents.
