i imagine there has to be some security to using this device if fallen into one of our hands. for example these new age stop lights tongue.gif equipped with cameras to ticket you if you run a red light... i duno i wouldn't touch it personally.

My mate showed me this the once, if its late and no ones around, preferably police lol just flash your lights quickly as you approach the traffic lights and the sensors on the lights think theres loads of traffic and green lights all the way wink.gif

Actually it's one specific lights in the UK. Look at the top of the light for a lil camera pointing straight ahead. It's hard to describe, but you'll know when you see it.

Yeah i think traffic lights are diffrent in the US, we have about 3 diffrent types of traffic lights in the UK, toucan, puffin and pelican

Look at this for a set of traffic lights:

there is a similar system here in the US for ambulances and school buses. ever notice the flashing lights on top of a school bus? thats what its for wink.gif
ambulances and fire engines use similar slow strobes to get the same effect.

they just drive through the red lights it doesn't change for them lol

You are right about that, especially where I live. Not to mention that the infrared flashing that this device emits is completely visible to a tv camera, such as those that are mounted in cop cars or intersections that have tv monitoring. They will soon see it and bust you.

I always thought strobes on school buses were to 'wake' people up. Know, in the morning people are still kinda sleepy, you're supposed to stop (in the morning) on BOTH sides of the road when the bus stops. I was told the strobes on the bus psychologically alert anyone near it....but I guess the person was telling me crap. As for that light changer - I'd stay far away from it myself. I flash lights to get signals to change; and if they don't then it's cool, I can wait. Most of the lights i've seen here in VA have a little camera mounted in the middle and have a camera flash every second....so, yeah....no go for sure here.

he might have been right, but imho its not flashing fast enough to have any effect on anyone.

i just had a WHACK dream about some skyscraper located at the lack.. some sort of high tower that you could drive up and the way to get the gate down is to flash your lights at it. It's all b/c of this thread. First time i've had a dream i remember in a LONG time.

The flashing red lights on schoolbuses are to be treated as a red traffic signal to motorists. If the red lights are flashing, you are supposed to stop because kids might be crossing the road. I drive a schoolbus for a living and many times the cars just drive right by them, oblivious to what is going on around them. The statement that the lights, or strobes as they were referred to but aren't, can change the traffic lights by the nature of their flashing is simply not true.
o0f
they are referring to the bright white flashing lights on top of the bus. Usually 1 per bus ( i assume )

I think the lights on the top of busses have No Purpose ™. I see them stuck in traffic all the time, so they don't change red lights. I guess they might alert people to the bus's position. My guess though is that if anything, they help people find the bus in an accident or something.
