Full Version: Flexy Ads...
Flexbeta > General > General > Things in General

hey guys, i know that you need cash to keep the site (therefor ads...) but the one in the middle on the screen just really SUCKS. it makes everything take forever to load (because it displays 1st, other things have to wait) and it's like...in the news area...it's really annoying and i thought i'd let you know that that sucks crymore.gif but otherwise flexbeta is awesome biggrin.gif

edit: P.S. it just...sucks... (did i get that point through?)
Gsurface
Thanx for the feedback. Looking for new placement for it. The site should load faster now that we are not using vibrantmedia ads though.

Ya i was woundering about that ad too. Its rather large.

Well it is now even worse... The Google Ads show up in between the news. Can the admin place the ads below the section of 'New Service Packs'. The area below it is rather empty.

Listen guys I really hate to be the one that says this but I'm going to anyway. The everyday cost of running Flexbeta is expensive, so we need revenue, and Ads are the only way we can do it.

I agree with you Singh, but there must be a more appropriate place to put these ads, i know alot of users might disagree with me on this one but how about popups? If you have a popup blocker your sorted! smile.gif i agree with the ads being there because they pay for Flexbeta but it doesnt give new users a very gud impression does it...

Just a thought!

Popups aren't the answer, and if you use a popup blocker, then how is flexy suposed to make money. Ads must be placed where all of our users can see them, I mean really honestly how many of your scroll right down to the bottom of the main page ? Cause I know I don't.

OK im asume Flexbeta must be using a company that places the ads on the page? am i correct or not? That company wont know if the users have a popup blocker they will give out the money regardless of that! Please correct me if im wrong thats just my way of thinking blink.gif
Like i said i agree that the ads should be there! Its been sorted now Gsurface has moved them so no worries! biggrin.gif

Actually, I am the pne that pleaces the ads, the company, like Google, gives the user the scripts to place the ad. Like sign said, I users really dislike popups, that is why I never place them. However, we are on a dedicated server and that server cost $$. There are other things too, you cant just place that ad where ever on your page, you must comply with the Ad networs TOS. For example, the ad must be above the fold, meaning to the eye of the user without having to scroll down on 800x600 resolution. Sorry guys but this is something that we must deal with. Continue to enjoy our forums and great news, cheers.

No, this isn't correct. The way most popup ads work is that the site only gets paid if the page completely gets finished loading. That means that if you have a popup blocker and it keeps the page from loading, Flexbeta would receive nothing for that hit. The people who pay out for popup ads aren't dumb, they know people use popup blockers and don't want to shell out cash if people don't see their ads.

With the popup ads, flex will only get money per click on those ads. Place likes google with Adsense pay just to have the ads displayed on the site.

To the admins.... do what you have to do to keep the site up and running. If it means looking at ads, then so be it. It's a wonderful community and I would rather have to look at ads than see the site shutdown due to lack of funding.

Ok thanks for letting me know JjcampNR, i wasnt sure to be honest i thought that was the case what you have said but i wasnt sure, i apolagies!

Sorry to Singh400! My Bad!
