Hi fellers.

I have planned to make some music. I need to be able to make some chill-out kind of music. Moby style. Maybe softer.

What program would you guys recommend? If it's free it is great!

Thanks in advance.

To edit songs I use Sony Sound Forge. But to make my own music I use Fruity Loops.

I tried using Fruity Loops, and so far I found it ... uhm, very confusing in some strange way. I can't really put this in another way, but I sorta sensed that the program wasn't really what I need.

Any other suggestions?

Fruity loops ALL the way for loops. Fruity is very powerful! It was horribly confusing when i first started using it but as soon as i read a simple tutorial on it, i was straight off making my own songs. I use fruity for drum/bass lines (etc) and use Adobe Audition (vs. sony sound forge - also has looping/track features) to record my guitar tracks/vocals. With Fruity/Audition i can either go from audition -> fruity or vice versa. I like the availability although i mostly import from audition -> fruity.

Good VSTs are a must have biggrin.gif (imho)

Hi. I have been make music many years.. A lot of good ones are available.. Adobe Audition, Acid, FL Studio,Cakewalk,Reason, Anvil Studio.. One of the bests is FL Studio 5 and a brand new Acid 5.0..

All ones are not free but i think anvil studio is trial free. All others are trials but maybe u prefer to start anvil studio. All others are not for beginners. Remember to check all softsites regularly.. U find music programs usually on Audio category..

If u have any questions or need help to music apps or music making contact me..

I heard 'reason' is supposed to be pretty good....(the prodigy use it I think)....I've never used it myself though... smile.gif

Yeah I tried Reason myself, didn't like it myself. Just got the new version of Sony Sound Forge; brilliant!!

Best is a mac, I use it to record my band's songs and mix them etc. (ow, yes, we do have studio we can rent, but that's not definately needed for mixing)

On my pc I use Adobe's software (dunno the name anymore)

Sound forge and Adobe Audition 1.5 for me

What I recommend is Sound forge 8 and Fl Studio Cos with these two you are set to even make better music than Mobby.

i totally agree. And what's easier than a couple of nice high quality dst plugins :-P

Hmm, sounds like a lot of different opinions on this subject.

I have also just tried Reason, at a friend, and that is way to complex for me. Nothing like that I need. Doesnt need to be that complex. Just a little bit more simple. I also tried Fruity Loops... that feels like "whatever"...
