what I have seen is I installed 332 over the previous build (also over 6.1 with plus and handwritng). It have handwriting ability but not show the plus. when I install next plus which incomplatable (not the beta one) It still have that ability.
Then, few days ago I installed fresh 332 on the new and clean MCE2005. I found handwring is not in 332.
Which I dont know why.
To solve this is, I think, simple apply the new beta msgplus it will work fine.

Well I think that is only half true Out. I dont have microsoft journal vewer on my pc, i had it at one point, but i complelty removed (to my knowledge). Ink is required to be installed, or at least it was for the last leak, i dunno bout the new build, wether or not i would have to have the ink installed because I already had it installed when i put it on.
Anyways, ink should make everything work. I dont think you can send handwriting messages to people who are using windows messenger either, i used to you hadnwriting even before msn messenger 7. Anyways,.............

My friend had that problem.. I had her install .NET framework 1.1 and it worked..

I was just gonna say that my install of XP is fairly new and I haven't installed journal viewer of anything of the sort. On this copy of XP is also the first time I'd have been installing MSN Mess. 7 and I do have handwrite. Also, I didn't have plus installed on 332, so that also kills the plus deal. I would hypothesize (sp) that .Net is what is required? I got into the habit of installing the .Net FW like a critical update since many many new apps depend on it, and 1/2 of them the companies have forgotten to make it so the installer tells you the program needs it; been through hell a few times that turned to heaven with .Net installed.
The ONE other solution could very well be - INK which comes with Windows Messenger 5 which happily downloaded to my PC by itself when I forgot to set it to not startup in it's Options, it could have plopped Ink on my machine without me noticing. It's not Plus or Journal Viewer though - or lets say it COULD BE? But they're not necessary to have it work.

It says it is 332, but when you download it, it is actually 425. If you also read, it says exactly what I said above, you have to have that stuff. Install Journal Viewer and see if it dont work, if not reinstall MSN and try then, if nothing else, report it as a bug.
Guys I'm not tryin to pull one over you eyes, that is just want MS said it had to have for the Handwriting to work.

Outlandish, Well, I still don't have journal viewer installed - so, they're making some kinda mistake someplace. Now I'm interested in finding the definite reason behind this.

Maybe sumthing you installed has some files that are needed for the installation of the handwriting feature. Mine was only enabled once I used the ink installation........

My laptop had been reformatted and when I installed MSN 7 it had the handwriting tab. It's fair to assume ink comes with SP2? Either that or maybe it comes in with an automatic update.....I still don't have journal viewer. I was thinking it may have been with Windows Messenger, but I haven't updated the one that comes with SP2.

Check for a .exe name WISPTIS.exe in your C:\WINDOWS\system32\WISPTIS.exe, if that is present it means you can handwrite in MSN regardless of whether you have Windows Journal Viewer.

Journal Viewer was the key for me, it got mine working. I had it going at first then I uninstalled JV and I couldn't handwrite anymore, installed again and its all good, also installed the JV patch too.
