A friend just gave me a copy of Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed for PC. I have been looking all over EA's site, but can't find any information on it. I was looking for the offical site, where I could see if their was a patch for it or something for XP. I did a quick google, and it doesn't come up with alot of information. Why does this game seem non existent? If anyone could help, that would be great.

The game is actually working with XP. You shouldn't have to download a patch
Singh400
Nah you don't need a patch for this game, I know I used to play it everyday, untill ME fucked up lol. And now i don't know where the CD is, so I can't play it any more!!! :'(

I just re-installed it on my XP machine. Honestly, if you've got a new gaming rig it'll work so well you'll be able to push the graphics past the point of looking cool into "hey, we need more polygons for this resolution." Great game though, have fun!

Now I have another problem. I have a ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB video card, I am running the latest Catalysts 4.10. When I go into setup for the game, it detect's my card as a ATI Rage II. I can't enable tripple buffering, and other options, but my friend who gave it to me, has an ATI 9800 XT, and that get detected perfectly. What can I do?
matt56la
did u try uninstalling the drivers and using the ones that came with your video card again, its not recommended that u dont update your drivers regularly but i have had problems with ATI Catalysts before.
Brett VanKirk
Well the drivers that came with my card are Cats 2.5. I doubt even have that CD anymore, plus I doubt it would help. sad.gif

it's always worked for me on XP Pro/MCE. just find a no-cd crack, and set the compatibility to 98. When you try to open it, you'll get an error asking for the disc, just click OK and the game will load fine.

Good luck smile.gif
cokeman
had same prob wit nfsu 1 and 2 update ur chipset, its seems un existent? it shold its discontinued by ea

i think
Bloodflame
may be unsupported now since it's a few years old, but it's still being produced and sold. a month ago, i finally got around to buying the NFS box set for $25 (CDN).

I recommend it to anyone who enjoys racing as much as I do biggrin.gif

How to make Need For Speed V Porsche Unleashed work on Windows XP !!

My Hardware
Processor : AMD Turion 64 Mobile
Processor Speed : 1.8 GHz
RAM : 896 MB
Display Adapter : ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200
Screen Resolution: 1280x800
Windows XP Home 32 bit Version 2002 Service Pack 2
Direct X 9.0

I got a new laptop with lots of RAM, good graphics and great configuration which I could also use for gaming apart from work. So I wanted to get my favorite racing game "Porsche Unleashed" working . I had to follow the following simple steps to get it working. But it seems simple now. I had to do lot of hit and Trial before I found the following patches and got them all to work.
These are the steps that I followed.

1. Install NFS Porsche Unleashed from CD or whatever.

2. Install the "NFS Porsche patch v. 3.5" from http://www.nfsunlimited.net/porsche/utils/
This file patches NFS PU to the latest version (3.5). The filename is "nfspu_v35.zip" and can also be found at http://www.edgefiles.com/files/3071.html

3. Install the "Porsche Unleashed 1st Enhanced Version 3.5.2004031"
(for Windows 2000/XP support and MORE.) from http://www.nfsunlimited.net/porsche/utils/
The filename is "NFS5-3.5.20040310.ZIP" and can be found at http://www.edgefiles.com/files/12820.html

4. This is very important. Right click on the file Porsche.exe in the game forlder or the shortcut to the game in Start Menu and open Properties. In the Compatibility Tab, Uncheck all the options. Make sure that "Run this program in Compatibility mode" is Unchecked.
Also, "Run in 256 Colors" is unchecked and "Run in 640x480 screen resolution" is unchecked.
If the above options are checked then the game Runs at a very slow speed like may be 1 Frame per second, in my case.

5. After doing all of the above I could turn on all the graphic settings in the game and it now runs at 1280x800 screen resolution.

I also tried to upgrade my Graphic Driver from the Factory installed driver to the newer ATI Catalyst driver but it did not help in any form. It may work for you though. For me it worked on the factory default ATI Driver.

Next, I wanna try to make this work on Windows XP 64-bit version.

thx for an additional method though. looks like i'll have to track down my NFS:PU to try it out. heh

oh and another thing, your laptop actually has 1gb or 1024mb of ram. the onboard radeon xpress is taking up 128mb. wink.gif
