3d Mark is a benchmark. It tests your computer. Especialy Your Processor and graphic card (3D-means graphic test) . There are also different tests for your sound card. After you run this benchmark, you get a score (xxxx marks). In dependece of your score you can see at what level is your computer.
mm_omega2
yeah its basically a standardized test given to your computers video card to see how it stands compared to other comparible cards.
The new one is only going to have 3 game tests this time around but I know it is going to give alot of people the same experience of a powerpoint presentation.
First card i checked out 3dmark03 with was my geforce4 mx420, scored like 1,000 marks, geforce4 ti4200...about 3,000ish , radeon 9600 around 4,000, radeon 9800pro 5,000ish+, x800pro 10,100+
So far what futurmark has been doing is when people start getting over 10,000 points then you start hearing about a new version coming out. has been approx. every 2 years, but newer faster video cards are being pumped out so fast its getting harder to keep up.

Look it up on www.futuremark.com

on their site look for 3dmark01 se, 3dmark03

enjoy

What's the point of this program? huh.gif "You have 4000 3D Marks, keep on playing Doom III cuz your PC wont live till 2006..."
People who knows what hardware they have in their PC don't need this junk. That's what I think about this program, don't take it seriously smile.gif

NVidia put their 6800 Ultra to the benchmark and posted their score on their news page:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_16083.html

ADD: Something tells me that my card might not support Pixel Shader 2.0. How can I be sure?

No problem mate, after all we are "Your source for Technology news". Anyway if you are wondering how they calculate the scores, check below:

(CPU1fps * CPU2fps)^1/2 * 1500 = CPU score

(GT1fps * GT2fps * GT3fps)^1/3 * 250 = 3DMark score

* = Times
^ = To the power of...

Does my Radeon 9600 Pro works with it. I do not 'want' junk install on my computer.
