Alright, i know the members and staff are all probly wondering why i havent been posting news in the last little while: here is my situation: I cant post news at school because they block the admin panel and its even kinda hard to log into the forum sumtime. At home my computer is on some crazy trip where when i boot it up the mosue cursor lags and freezes every few seconds and when i go to log on to the internet the computer reboots everytime blink.gif So basicly i cant post news! sad.gif

I sent the computer in the a computer shop (they do a free checkup on any system and then they will repair it for a lil cost huh.gif ) Deppending how things go today in the shop i might be back to posting news as soon as i can, or things could get worss. Im also gettingmy cable internet this wednesday (oh yah thats tomorow) but if the computer isent back at the house the person installing it might make us schedual a third appointment so ill be without high speed internet even longer huh.gif

Well thats my excuse, wink.gif
oswan

huh.gif hey guys, the ppl from the repair shop are saying it could be my processor, and well getting a new one of those is a lil expensive! I would probly want a 400-500$ one but there is no way i can afford it. huh.gif This might mean i could be gone for a much longer time then i thought. Well ill keep ya'll informed, cool2.gif
matt56la
huh.gif Well, my computer came back and they said they fixed it, so i was charged for like a hour labour wich was like 50 dollors, they said it was only a sound card conflict with windows xp, so they removed the card. Meanwhile, i plug in the computer, and the problem persistes and they still didnt fix the thing where the computer retarts when i dial up to the internet. So today im bringing the pc back to the shop and telling them that they didnt fix it and ill see what is happening. If they dont fix it ill try formating my hard drive and reinstalling windows xp on a fresh partition huh.gif

Dude, I feel for you. I run a repair business, and it sounds like you got ripped. Go back, and either force them to fix it, or get your money back. You should get your card back as well.

Sounds like the modem, to me.

That's complete bulls*it. If you want, I could help you out wth your problem, most likely.
matt56la
happy.gif that would be nice! ohmy.gif Well i still have my sound card its just not in my rig, but i have on-board sound anyways, so its fine for now until i buy a pair surround sound speakers. I gonna format tonight if they refuse to give my money back or fix it right. After all it kinda took them several hours to figure out my problem, they said it was related to the sound card, but i guess that wasent half the problem ohmy.gif Im thinking of just getting a new pc sumtime but my money is limited since i dont work or anything at my age ( i only have years of birthday, christmas and allowance money huh.gif ) If i buy a new rig ill probly buy a hunk of junk one and switch the parts over one by one and see how they work together, anyways its time to go home, ill let u know how everything goes tomorow, if there is any thing i need help with i know flexbeta could always help me happy.gif
matt56la
Alright guys, thing are even worss, last night the computer came back from the shop and they told me they couldnt fix it, i didnt get charged for anymore labour but my monitor gave out, it just stoped working, says no signal all the time.

So basicly this is my plan of action

im getting my mom bf to find me a decent mobo and monitor and ship it up here on the buss, then soon after ill order a new processor and hard drive and ill finaly be able to get back on a decent internet connection, i should be back online by the end of next week; but my computer wont be done its face lift sleep.gif

Here is what it will be after its done the face lift

Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz / 512K Cache / 800Mhz FSB / Socket 478 / HyperThreading / Processor
Asus P4S800 SiS Socket 478 Motherboard/8X AGP/Audio/10/100 Ethernet LAN/ USB 2.0/ Intel Prescott Support
Maxtor 80GB / 7200 / 2MB / ATA-133 EIDE Hard Drive
Maxtor 40GB/ 7200 RPM…….
ATI Power Color 9200 SE Video
Aopen 56k modem
Netgear Network Card
1 GB DDR RAM
Microsoft Optical Scroll Mouse
Microsoft Multimedia Keyboard
DVD Burner, DVD Player, and CD Burner

I might be getting a different motherboard though sleep.gif

Any problems let us know, we can walk you through this m8. biggrin.gif
matt56la
Alright here is the deal, i bought a nice new screen (300$) and had it shipped down from ottawa (50$!) thinking that my old monitor had blown. It turned out that my whole motherboard gave out and that i didnt need the monitor cause it was the agp that wasent fonctioning blink.gif So basicly it would cost me another 50 bucks if i wanted to return it. So i kept the monitor and im getting a new mobo shipped here soon, ill probly sell my old monitor. My computer troubles should be fixed in the next week or 2 for sure. dry.gif

Anyways im just keeping you guys informed, you guys are doing great keeping the news current and i dig the new look. whistle.gif
legojerry
Dude, it sounds like the computer repair shop broke your computer. They should fix it for free.

This is utter crap!

Edit- Yes, as Win said, any probs.. post images, and we can edit them to show you how smile.gif
matt56la
Alrighty i should be able to make everything work, the only problem i might have is getting the processor off my current mobo and onto my new one. (the whole thing, including the heatsink, and fan)
legojerry
What exact problem would you have with that?
cokeman

But it's so much more fun when your the student and you have to "hack" the network.
matt56la
Well my computer is all fixed now, it turns out I also ended up with a motherboard that i didnt need and i cant return it (there is another 150$), I must say this board is the best I have ever had. Its a ASUS P4P 400 E Deluxe (i think this is the link, it has onboard ethernet, onboard sound....http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket478/p4c800-e_d/overview.htm) It runs great at the moment, by tonight i will start posting news again, it might take me a while to get used to the new posting format. If i do anything wrong please tell me (in a nice way) what I did wrong and what i should change.
