Hey,

Here's a post for all you football fans to just discuss whatever!

I'm a Manchester United fan, so I'll be really biased.

This is kinda like an experiment to see how many people would get involved in this thread.

Also for anyone who wants to learn about the game or have any questions, just ask!

i love soccer although the US teams are nothing compared to the international teams i like ...i still love soccer. My fav team is England ...fav player of all ...David Beckham

I have played american soccer all of my life. I miss the gold old days of playing in Under-12s and going to tournaments. We caused so much trouble we were banned from certain hotels.

Back in the day, it was soccer volleyball in the pool, soccer in the house, and soccer in the hotel hallways biggrin.gif

I live in Oklahoma and soccer was pretty big here. SNU used to have a great college team here and they even made a few MISL stars.

Lots of fun, good friendships, lots of girls with nice legs!

BEst sport in the WORLD!

haha true biggrin.gif

im disappointed in you bsod, beckham?!?!

though i am an england fan. pity about the euro 2004.

anybody watch, or have gone to the champions world series games?

im goin to Man United vs AC Milan on july 31st.
itmictc
Well I went to United vs Milan. Great game, great seats, bad score. Milan won 9-8 on penalties very undeservedly. United had almost total domination except for a few scattered Milan attacks.

Anyway, the thing that gets me really annoyed is not the score, but the fans. People do not understand the concept of loyalty. How can you cheer for United when they score, and then chant "Milan" later in the game? Honestly, it's like cheering for both teams at a Red Sox - Yankees game.

The stupidity of people is astounding. Anyway, for those of you who watched it, Scholes played great, especially after just coming from England. He really is one of the best midfielders in the world. (Except for maybe Zidane)
oswan
oh bloody hell....everywhere i go i get talk about football.... does it ever stop sad.gif i just dont understand the facisation... its a boring game to play and watch... end of story dry.gif
itmictc
well thanks oswan, but if you hate it so much, DONT READ THE THREAD!

besides, the only way its not fun to play is if you sit in your room playing video games all day, or you're just too unfit to go out and play a little bit.

have fun with your badgers...
oswan

anyway, winwizard, where did that come from?!? rolleyes.gif

I'd pick soccer any day, there were always girls around the game.

What's wrong with playing a sport to get girls?
thewinwizard
Well, I thought we were talking about a real mans sport, and their's lots of women at hockey games. biggrin.gif
stretched
The average soccer player runs 9-11 miles per game. Not to say that hockey isn't manly, but there is nothing like unprotected sports where players feel the pain cool.gif
thewinwizard
How many miles do you think these guys skate in a game? How would you like to get hit at 20 mph by a guy weighing 220 lbs, or a frozen puck moving at 100 mph? How about getting you head sliced open, get stitched up, and go back and play. Of course, there's no pain involved in hockey, or play with broken bones?

Wait, I never said there wasn't pain in hockey. Sorry I mentioned it. ohmy.gif

Just a little debate, m8. Both sports are rough and filled with pain. smile.gif

u've got a sharp tongue m8 laugh.gif well ive played hockey, not ice hockey, it is a gud spory and u do get alot of bruises and stuff. football isnt that ruff rele.....depends on wot u do with in the game smile.gif
itmictc
ice hockey is definitely a hard core thing, but is it a sport?

in my opinion, its 3 activities:
1) Playing With a Puck
2) Skating
3) Fighting

lol ;-)
thewinwizard
Yes, it's a sport. What is soccer, a ball, running, and ?
itmictc
not tryin to start i fight here winwizard, but in my opinion, football has a lot more teamwork and physical fitness than hockey, though hockey is definitely better than baseball any day.
thewinwizard
Hey m8, we're not going to fight. It's called having a educational, constructive debate. This isn't going to be a pissing or shouting match. I respect soccer for the grueling tough sport it is. Just respect hockey for the same reasons, is all I ask. We could go into rugby from here as well. Just trying to have some fun, share thoughts and ideas. Yes?
itmictc
definitely man, about rugby actually, it takes some skill with the passes.

but we need some more talk about the actual teams and news, not just about sports in general.

Anyway, BIG NEWS:

Paul Scholes Retires From International Football at 29!

Check it out at www.soccernet.com
thewinwizard
Agreed m8. let's talk about the olympic games. They play soccer in that, yes?

olympics?

yea there are, but not all countries play in it. I know portugal and argentina are playing because of conflicts with man united, but thats about it.

What's everybody's favorite national/club team?
thewinwizard
Well, here in Mass we have the New England Revolution. They are okay. I remember the good, old days, when the N.Y. Cosmos has Pele, Beckenbauer, Giorgio Chiangala. I can't spell the guys name. This was back in the 70's. lol Yes, I'm not that young anymore.

Oklahoma does not have a team, or any soccer coverage on tv sad.gif

Around here, we played when we were younger and after high school, a few went to college, but I ran into a few players at my recent reunion, and they are all old, fat, and working.

Remember putting so much emphasis on things when we were younger?

cool.gif cool.gif cool.gif Man we were cool cool.gif cool.gif cool.gif
