Hey, I recently got Office 2003 Standard Edition (retail boxed version) and I've reinstalled and activated it on my PC for more than 10 times now. The limit is around 50, so I was wondering if there is any way to backup my activation and restore it to my PC everytime I reinstall the software so I don't use up alot of my activations?

Remember how TotalIdea's TweakXP was able to do this for Windows XP? That's what I wanna do with Office 2003. wink.gif

Thanks. smile.gif

I wouldn't do that. I don't even think its legal. If you later have problems activation, you can always call microsoft support.

ok found the files , mainly cuz of a prog called Tweak XP Pro.

the activations files are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data

in mine their are 3 files in their data.dat and OPA11.BAK and opa11.dat i deleted these files and microsoft word refused to work for me , it kept opening then sed summat about not been install for the current user. if u are unsure about how to get these files , use the program tweakxp pro @ here

Or you could just install a base, stripped down version of your operating system and Office 2003 and Ghost the whole thing. That's what I do. I Ghost it over to an external USB drive and when I need a fresh install, I just Ghost it back. No more activation.

I also have office 2003 standard. I tried activating it 3 times and had to call. It was fast and my office was activated in under 5 mins. If your copy is legal, and you say it is, so I believe you, then really....just call. It's very quick and you can call as many times as you need to. Oh...all they ever did was ask me why I needed to reinstall....to which I always say, i formatted my PC. IF they ask why you've formatted 10 times - you just say "hey, windows xp pro"....and you'll get through every time.
