Man, I was planning on going to the Linux World but I didn't know it was that expensive, like $300 or so to get in...yessshhhhh, i thought it was going to be like the auto shows they have where u pay $15 to get in.

You also have to pay extra to see some of the Keynote speakers. I was going to go but hell to see the speakers and stay in a hotel was going to be like a couple grand. I can buy a few computers for that
Gsurface
man and the Hotels here are rediculous...you would wind up paying like 200 a night for like a 3 star hotel...I hate NY!

Yeppers that is why I said thank you but I will wait till they hold it someplace better suited to a show where deals can be had for a room and airfare

forget that ...if i wanna learn about linux...thats what i got the web for lol

going to a conference is about more then learning. It is about human networking. advanced information on hardware software and about concepts. That is why I try and go to a show like this. The Keynote speakers are often sharing information that is harder to find or about the future and coming from people who actually know versus a rumor. It is a good solution for alot of info in a relatively quick gathering

social?
gntlmn
exactly social is one major part. You meet insiders and many times others who can assist you when you are not sure what to do or need some help with a project you don't have expertise in every detail like when a customer changes the project adding items that are beyond your scope.

Is it really worth the cost though if you know what you are doing you can get everything you need to know on the net.

I guess, if you know everything you *need to know* and are content with your circle of friends ect, spend the money on parts whatever...vacation to cancoon. lol
But, for someone like me being young, its a great place to learn many new things, and see about upcoming stuff. Also a great place to meet people and exchange contacts tips ect.
