I was wondering if your school have sum type of Blocking technology like our school does, it blocks all the site that like to go to, sumhow flexbeta makes it through.... huh.gif
liquidsilver
We had some crappy thing too. I'd get a screenie but I graduated 2 weeks ago...maybe Bizkit_man can grab one. tongue.gif
Singh400
ok ........ how does this work ? does it work by blocking certain pharses or IP addys of the site . cuz if it uses word blocking , maybe u can /dns the site and use the IP instead of 'www.<addy>.com'
hussam
We have the same thing at college. The filter is called websense. What it does it that it filters certain web categories through the proxy ( not from the browser). This way, whatever browser you use, it'll filter the web.
thewinwizard
Yes, my college used web sense, but at the school I work for, they use a proxy server and we manually add the exclusions to it. It's a waste of time doing this, but i guess it's cheap.lol Like the school.
hussam
Yeah, a lot of universities use websense.

Yeah, a lot of universities use websense.

never rele heard of that , but my skool use summat called DansGuardian. its rele fu**in annoying!!! :@ :@ stupid feckin admins :@

DansGuardian
hussam
Both universities, the one I go to and the one my sister goes to use websense. Damn it, I really hate this websense.
They're filtering everything from game sites to mp3 sites to umm ( you know what)
I can't even open ea.com from there. mad.gif
matt56la
Does anyone know a way arround it?
oswan
sometimes entering the IP addy will get you there .... i mean i can get onto flexbeta at skool.... well i get to the main page but cant enter the forum - decides to block it then. i think that a lot of sites are bloced on the basis of words and "offencive material" you used to be able to get arround it by doing the search in google and searching for forigen versions of sites and doing a google translation but it doesnt work very well any more - think theyve wised up, even managed to restrict searches on google sad.gif only other oppertunity is to hack into the admins account and either give yourself admin 'restrictions' lol or make a new account with those settings and chager things from there. lol i got banned from the network a few weeks ago for playing sonic online - lol found an unblocked french site and they found me in 5 mins sad.gif LOL the best thing tho is when the admin forgets to password protect the bios tongue.gif its happend in on of my last computing lessong, i tried to get in and they frogot to password protect one and i overclocked it by 1GHz - lol prob burnt the chip out tongue.gif laugh.gif
mp3_maker
At our school we have a SonicWall Pro 300, The easiest way I have found around it is to use remote desktop connection. My dad is also the admin (therefore i have our passwords for it) and setup a Windows server 2k3 machine on the DMZ port with both an outside and internal address and it works great for terminal services.
biggrin.gif IRC at school, and MSN Messenger and stuff works great.

But yeah having an outside computer with remote desktop and just remoting to it either with the client in XP or the web page that can be added onto either a WinXp Pro machine with IIS and Remote desktop or a Windows Server with Remote desktop In either administration mode (three users using remote desktop to that computer at a time) or in full terminal services mode (any number of users at a givin time).
matt56la
Oisin, i use that google thing to haha it works when i want to play games... just jump to google.com go to advanced lang. tools n translate a world into another lang. n search it on google lol. or there is the other good one where u just use google to translate the page into another laungage. So if addictinggames.com is blocked n u make them translate it into french, it not blocked biggrin.gif
oswan
lol its gud isnt it tongue.gif biggrin.gif
thewinwizard
Websense uses a proxy server, all you need is the right ip address and port and ......
OutlandishTrendz
My college has Prism or something like that and one other thing. Their website block, we nick named it the RSOD, red screen of death. It has a scrolling thing about this and that.
hacker_god
i hate that RSOD.....kinda sux cuz then u end up with teachers tellin ya the IT ppl are gettin mad.....lol
hrcs
our school doesn't, btw, i'm in australia
OutlandishTrendz
Course in Aussie, they prolly arent as strick. Just Playing. laugh.gif
legojerry
So if you go to like anonyimity.com or whatever it is, and try to surf through their page, it won't work?

Try changing the IP to octal. The filter won't get it.
UPAZ
We allso have a system like that at my school. Its very annoyning when you are tring find something more interesting than classes. wink.gif
Singh400
yeh my skool got one that just dont block webpages oh no! it blocks download of the following extensions : .exe , .rar , .zip , .ace. and it rele piss me of when tryin to download a game and installin it!! :@ :@. but for sum reason they have left FTP open so i just use that lol
Cheesygit182

Cheesygit182
read the attachment... it explains everything I know about getting past blocks... at least two of the 4 methods there shud work... AB google.gif mfr_lol.gif

We have websense setup in my Cisco course and you can bypass it by using Mozilla FireFox with Switch Proxy. Several of the anonymous proxy servers work great for being able to get out into other websites. Oddly enough, you still cannot download any .mp3's, .mpegs, etc. FTP and SSH is open and if you know how to write access control lists in the routers, you can easily add more wink.gif
Outcast
My school together with other schools in my country have their servers connected to the ministry of education servers which have some sort of crappy software to block out words in URL then the website. However, if the URL does not have obscene words, the website will be displayed regardless of 'genre' and students start to have fun. mfr_lol.gif
teapot197
We have this thing called ContentKeeper at our school - it blocks Hotmail and "adult content and gaming" stuff etc, yet I can get onto Flexbeat with no probs - woohoo! mf_w00t2.gif Oh, and btw cheesygit182, the "Language tools on Google" tip to get past blocks doesn't work on this PC goddammit! google.gif yeah right
matt56la
My school updated their blocking too - they now use lightspeed too - Lightspeed Content Filtering

Screwing arround with the internet settings can remove the old x-stop but i dont know a way arround this new lightspeed thing.

I forget what our school has, I'll post it later, but we have this app called "Fortress Grand Pro' or somthing that prevents the computer settings being changed, stuff being installed etc. i know the password to that because my cyber corps teacher gave it to me, but i need a way to hack into his novell account or a pretty fast application to cracl .pwl files (since his passwords are more than likely the same), so then I can give myself full access permissions on the network, and can edit my grades from being a 3.2 to a 4.0 etc. (seeying how all the integrade pro files are stored on a server and not the actualy teachers computers) any helps or hints would be great.

So, you want to cheat. I have an idea, study hard and do your homework and you can get 4.0 GPA.

Option 1)
Ok first you'll need an application that can capture packets, then a program to decypher that packet, and then finally something that can crack *.pwl files.

Option 2)
Get physical access to the server

Option 3)
Get a life, work hard and achieve something. Then imagine the day when you can tell your kids that your daddy done all this for thier future. Most of all retain diginity
matt56la
Its your choice what you want to tell your kids:
I was a pro hacker. ohmy.gif
I was an honor student who acheived such great success. biggrin.gif

Make the choice. Study hard, Apply your self, If you fail - try again.

OR: use the RDP. if your place is like mine, it would ban the use of the RDP but oddly enough (ours anyway) you can still access it with a batch script huh.gif

but yea: using the RDP is the best work-around for dodging a filter. connect to a comp you have outside the filter's boundaries.

edit: vibrant media is ghey

I was a 3.5 student and I was known as the school's 'Black Hat'
It was to often that people would ask me stupid questions about changing grades. Is it really that complicated to study? If you invested all the time on the school subject instead of learning how to hack your grades, you would be much better off.
Singh400
Could some please explain this odd grading system ? 4.0 / 3.5 .....etc.
Over here we have percentage and letters for grades wink.gif

A* (Top)
A+
A
A
A-
B+
B
B- (Halfway)

and so on
oubipaws
A = 4 points
B = 3 Points
C = 2 Points
D = 1 Point

Lets say you have 3 A's and 1 C. That would be (4+4+4+2). Divide that number by the number of classes (4). The GPA would be 3.5

If schools would stop wasting time trying to stop us from doing things, then maybe we would stop wasting time trying to find ways around them wink.gif

Eventually you'll get to a stage where you will accept that the school has put these measures in place to protect us, not to spite. Or get a USB Flash Drive smile.gif .
oubipaws
I know that..... My college has the USB drives disabled, has no cdroms and no floppies. They try their best to stop of from doing things. I love trying to get passed it all. Gives me something to do when I get bored in class.
High School was even better. The school had this network admin who was a complete idiot. He had the school thinking that they were uber secure. Problem was that they were running a wireless network that was just calling my name wink.gif

soz, but ya won't get past ya fortress grand pro easily... it's da best settings blocker i know... unless all ya teach's passwords ARE the same, and you have a helluva lotta good luck, you're screwed...! :-( as for the .pwl files, get a DRAGON disk, that'll have the software ya need... ! You would think a unviersity would respect a person's freedom to browse whatever website they wanted. We can go to any web address out there at my private university...they do use things like packetshaping to block certain P2P programs for bandwidth reasons and also don't give out routable IP addresses, which takes care of Bittorrent sad.gif. They see themselves as our ISP and pretty much allow anything except file sharing on a nice T3. Yay! biggrin.gif
oubipaws
I agree that a person has the right to surf the net as much as they want at home in their own internet area. At a school or at work, limitations have to be placed. Not only would people spend to much time surfing the net, they could do illegal things online and the college or place of business can be held accountable. I personally would not want to have to worry about someone going and looking at kiddy porn and my "company" having to be liable for it.... you know what i mean?
johnnyking2007grd
My school uses DansGuardian too i hate it so much they block all the e mial's realmad.gif sigh.gif but some stupid place called gaggle... I can still get to my chartermi account i also use my laptop at school so i am all set biggrin.gif
