Full Version: :-( .... comp unstable
Flexbeta > HardWare > Video Cards
vasser_-
This is really annoying:
I have a rather new comp that is having almost the same problems as my old comp, it boots unexpectedly and i can remember from time to time even freeze up.
there are only a couple of things which are common to both comps and its those components:

1) MS mouse
2) regular keyboard
3) hard drives
4) Radeon 9500 Pro

which of those can cause a comp to "just" boot ?
i have now disalbed the system auto restart on errors, in hope to get some light shed on this error (now i'm HOPING to get a BSOD)

please help me out ... i'm going nuts with this

Its most likely a driver. Have you looked at the Event Viewer to see what errors are happening?
nvyseal4u
sounds like to me a power supply problem!
Gsurface
Make sure all your drivers are currently up to date, especially the video card.
hussam
Also avoid unsigned drivers. Only use WHQL'ed ones.
If you do get a BSOD, post the error info here.
Also do a check to see if it is a RAM memory problem.
One of the Twelve
Check bios FSB, and what does your cpu need.

I'd have to say ATI drivers..
I've been running a few different ATI graphics cards and all of them made the puters instable.
And one thing that's allmost impossible to get running without problems is radeon and AMD CPU's.. I've tested quite a few different configurations and never got it really reliable..

Therefore I've been forced to change to Intel CPU and NVIDIA FX graphics..
Runs smooth and never any glitches..

Try running the Omega drivers for your ATI card, that might help you get it stable..
Get it here!!

Good luck getting your system running without problems..

i had this happen to me before, i just flashed my bios drivers and poof, so far its been working fine

This looks like your error: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;834450

There is a hotfix for the issue.
vasser_-
if this helps me, you rock !!!
just one little thing, how do i grab it without M$ knowing about me ? tongue.gif
KelpFries
I don't think thats possible. Because its a hotfix, you have to contact MS in order to obtain it. It is not available for download publicly.

[SIZE=7][FONT=Arial]I had the same problem before too.. I still remember the solutions i took to recover this..

Those things u have in common doesnt seem to be a problem.

1. Unplug all PCI card u have in your system.
2. Re format your computer ( MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP )
3. While installing windows if the same error occurs ( CHANGE YOUR POWER UNIT. RECOMMEND ANTEC 350 TRUE WATT higher WATT better!!)
4. If you can successfully install your windows without seeing that error, then you need to run the patch file from MS. ( LINK IS GIVEN ABOVE! )

5. I m aware that your computer boots up unexpectally right? First are you using Wireless LAN? If you are, try to disable Wake On Lan. Different mobo have different names for WAKE ON LAN. Check your mobo guide. If u dun have a wireless lan, your cables connecting to your mobo switch maybe loose ( TRY PLUGGING IT HARDER ) or your power supply needs to change..

6. I feel that it's your (P.S) power supply. If u have the best P.S out there already and u think it's nothing to do with the P.S THINK AGAIN. SOMETIMES THE P.S JUST SCREW UP. TRY CHANGING WITH THE SUPPLIER. CLAIM THAT IT'S NOT SPOIL JUST NEED A CHANGE.

That's all.. If my comments help, pls reply to me K?
vasser_-
i have a 380+ PSU, no wireless lan involved
this doesn't happen during windows setup, i don't mind re-installing windows, its just that there is that hotfix, that i can't get a hold of ...
already checked memory with memtest86 (v3), no problems found

i need to install that hotfix, but M$ want money for everything, even if its just a little file that helps their users.
i tried searching the net (google) for a link to hotfix #834450 , there is no direct link (that i could find)

thats about it.
