Not so long ago, when you asked someone what MP3 player they used you knew they would say "Winamp" but now after AOL fu**in$ up everything. You will be very lucky if someone says Winamp. So we know that Winamp 3 was a real fuc$up.
But now Winamp 5 is a flippin joke. Who is going to pay for Winamp Pro when you can get those features for FREE on another more reliable player. Well Winamp you were once a king but now you are no more than a peasant.
Winamp PRO go $*(^#(^(^()%^()#*&^@*()^ your self

Winamp 5 is still awesome, but iTunes is just l33t. I'll keep 'em both on my pc for the time being. Or until I get tired of downloading a 19mb update for iTunes. Not good.

Yeah, well I still think Winamp 5 is a bit of a joke. I mean one might as well have Winamp 2.91. What really gets me is that how can they think of charging people for Winamp Pro?
I use Itunes and its great, to bad the update is a big file. I guess I'll update it next weekend.
When it comes to audio players. I have a lot on my system and Winamp 5 just doesn't cut it.

if u dont like winamp..simply dont use it. It has its benefits and it sure as hell is better than Windows Media Player which is so feature lacking its sad.

I think in a few years. WMP will become a excellent player. Heck all MS has to do is buy the Wasabi Player (That would be the defunct Winamp 3) improve it and then merge it with WMP and then they will have a perfect player. Although they would have to do a lot of work on Wasabi but you never know maybe they will do it?

@linoman: I think you're giving Microsoft way too much credit.

In my opinion wmp and musicmatch will remain the Best. Winamp3 was an ambitious project and I still prefer it over winamp5.
But as linoman said, if the wmp9 series continues improving, it will be the best player outthere. Still wmp9 does lack options that musicmatch has such as adding the artist and song name to mp3 files.

Yeah I know maybe I am giving MS a bit to much credit but hey if you can't beat em join em. lol At least everyone agrees WMP is feature lacking, shame. But I still think it will improve

I used Sonique before changing to Winamp, but now that Winamp stinks, I think Ill go back to Sonique. You can tell that the Winamp people know they screwed up cause they still offer the old WinAmp, 2.x.x

I liked Winamp 5, the problem is is that it takes up a crap load of ram with all its new looks and features. Sooooo I went back to winamp 2.81, BOO YAA

2.91 has that stupid aol and video crap.
Linoman
Jan 9 2004, 09:42 PM
Well I think Winamp 2.81 was most problem the best audio player ever released.
But Winamp 5.1 is not bad but after using it alot, I think the old Winamp generation is gone.
