lol yeah with visual basic you could rip this stuff up within a few hours (maybe for pros less then that lol) but yeah that case..yeah VB is a ncie langauge to START programming with

The control panel has a window which in there you can access various Windows control panels-it can be accessed through bDesktop (Babya Menu-Control Panel). Also has anyone tried the font/printer profiler-it has a textbox (provided by the Microsoft rich textbox control) which, after selecting a font froma listbox lets type text to preview selected font and the miniapps suite-it has a simple picture viewer and a clock/date function (you change the clock text color).

I dont mean to sound mean, but how can this software improve my usability over explorer?

Good use of the Windows API, but like Gsurface said, I dont really see the benefit, it seems to me that it would just get in the way, become annoying and really has no visible benefits to my computer experience.

I'm added window transparancy to bDesktop. The fast access to control panels (no icons to slow it down) and the Constellation text editor can save, if there is enough free memory, text files over 64kb-unlike Notepad.

I still don't really get where this program would be my PC using any better really...why exactly did you design it? To just to learn about Visual Basic and programming or is this program have a tool that you wanted...

Example-edit copy files in bdesktop can copy files instantly-not unlike expoorer that can take minutes.

I was releasing my own software at one time, and every time you make a release it's exciting, I can't blame him for wanting to tell us, you see, it's hard to explain just the feeling you get when you release a program, but all I can say is you program is coming along, keep on improving, and building upon it, perhaps you can re desgn it to be a shell replacement, just and idea

I see. I think you should make you program a bit more appealing unless you only want people using Winodws 98 and below to use it. Make the icons look nicer and put more things into the program. If you have time, maybe even make your own web browser.

No offense, but like everyone else has said, how is this going to visibly improve performance and usability over Windows Explorer? I find Windows Explorer good enough for all my tasks, I can easily manage processes through KILL.EXE / TASKLIST and Task Manager, I can access everything from the Start Menu; what is the good of someone like me to install this thing

Also, as a reply to beta-guys comment, hes right, I'm working on a streamlined media player with basic skinning support and stuff; when I figure out how to add features I want through trial/error and reading up on things, it makes you feel good that youve accomplished something. You also get hyped up over releasing things sometimes, which brings me to my next point; take your time. Release a build or two to a set amount of people; and see what THEY want. Once you have that feedback, see if the changes / additions / removals are possible, see how many people want what done, and then make changes from there. It gives you a sense of proudness to see that your users are actually enjoying an application that you created.

Yes just about any Windows program will work in a virtual pc for mac. The point is that your program would attrack more users if it had better or more solid reasons for people to not use explorer. How about making a web browser?

Ok so I took a look at you program and these are some thoughts. Your web browser is very limited. It needs to be more appealing to the user, I mean your buttons are round and just not attractive. There are really no settings to adjust, trying to click on file or any other tab/button on top only renders 1 option. Even though your pop-up blocker works very well, I tested it in a site which test pop-up blockers and it blocked all pop-ups. And there is no save in File....what about if I want to save a webpage. Also, I see now security settings at all, how am I supposed to feel succure surfing with your browser?



There is a simple calculator which doesn't compete at all with windows calculator. Is it me or is this thing missing the equal (=) sign?

Look you are a good programmer if you can code something like this by yourself. But I suggest you concentrate on 1 thing instead of so many. Try concetrating on your browser, I think you are trying to take on a project thats just tooo big, but if you limit yourself to a smaller task, you can make it succesful. Just my thoughts.

Just remove the manifest file-it works fine without the .manifest file-I tried it on xp without this-it works. To list fonts-you can type text to see it in a font. i'm adding printing capibilityto v 12.04's profiler.To adust internet settings-use the windows internet control panel(access thru that or babya control panel's sys config window.).

I have to be really sincere, I really don't see any usefull reason why anyone would want to install this program, maybe except if you improve the web browser. I mean, you say that this is easier than windows explorer, yet to set internet settings I have to access another control panel, why not put a control panel in the web browser? But I see you are a fighter, but this is a battle that I don't think you will win. You need to limit your project to one thing, like I said, concentrating on the browser would be a good start. Make it have more settings and add more eye candy to it. Your on a good start with the pop-up blocker, but it needs more work.

Will you also work on the look of it? How about adding more features. Something you can do is ask for a wish list right here in the forums. Ask users what they would like to see in a browser. Take a look at other browsers and see what good features they have and try to build yours from there by improving on those features. Maybe you can add an ftp browser to it, maybe even add its own firewall, that would really rock.
