Yes it's Great 100 channels

No, We will always need a cd player in the car

Whats XM Radio?
Gsurface
I think it is a good idea, but I doubt that people will pay money to listen to something that is already free. Its not like comparing local television channels to cable because in cable you get movies and programming that is not available to the local channels. Radio plays music that is accesible via free radio stations or paid XM. So you are getting the same thing except without the commercials. I dont think it will go as far as they would want it to go.

Yea exactly i would NOT buy XM radio.. only thing nice about it is that there is no commercials... but, does anyone know how the quality of the sound is compared to radio??

I think the quality would have to be much better and the it is transmitted as a digital signal I believe. So the signal to noise ration is considerable low compared to FM radio.

it is a digital signal and the quality is cd. a customer of mine a few days ago recommended that i purchase as much stock in XM radio as i could because it was going to soar and i've seen a ton of cars with the antennas (you can't miss them) but i just don't think there is a buzz about XM right now i think i will leave the stock alone but i may try XM out

yeah I opted my dad to get XM radio like 6-10 months ago but he didn't can't say it was the best advice at the time seemed smart though..
I think its a great idea...just gonna take time and more car companies to put it on standard for their cars..
kjconrad
If they require it by law like seat belts im gonna buy some stock then

should just move all the fm stations to XM and let it be free... like we need AM and FM anymore...its too crowded as is... and besides i love my cd's i can play what i want when i want at anytime..so no it wont ever replace it.
kjconrad
Thanks for the input Bsod I cant see it happening either but thought i would ask the experts here

ur welcome kjonrad...and im sure everyone is with me on this idea cause honestly eventually in the future it will be free... i dont see the point in payin for it ...it would be like me payin to listen to FM radio...i actually thought i could buy it but they are NOW like " 9.99 a month PLUS activation...well hell how much is that ...20-40-200 bucks?!? i dont want to pay an activation fee that rivaled my cell phone lol
benwalburg
seriously....you can get pretty much same thing as FM radio just clear...
its not like on demand you say a song and you get to listen to it...now that mayybe I would pay for....
but heck If I had the money to do that I would just build a computer to put into my car just like this one dude did with his mustang....18" LCD its so freaking tight....he can watch movies and listen to music..only 2 channel audio for some reason though....
Mustangs..ahhh lol
bizketman101
zzz.gif mustangs are so slow it makes me zzz.gif anyways, i do agree with BSOD, XM radio should be free in the future!! i think its kinda stupid to pay for it.. it is good quality.. but i just listen to CD's in the car, (except when my mom is in her oldies mood)
