What do you guys think? We are getting alot of coverage here because I live just a few hours away and students from my high school that graduated went to that school (I got to a High School with only 100 people). Its shocking as I was on campus last Thursday visiting as I start to think about what colleges I want to apply to.

Ok, I just heard this on the radio.... I'm freaked out again, why do ppl think like that?

Ok, I sometimes feel the need to be highly aggressive and kill everyone around me, but for those moments I have EVE-Online or Unreal!

I'm really wondering what goes in the brain...

Don't let something like this affect your choices of schools in there area. This could have happend to any campus in America.

It is kind of freaky to see though, today I was filling out financial aid paperwork for a university. Scary stuff.

Mobile phones ftw, good think the owner captured some, but also a bad thing... considering he's taping some maniac!

thats bad, I saw it on BBC News 24. Gun crime is increasing rappidly here in the UK. We are lucky nothing has happened like this (yet) Or at least that I recall in UK, oh there was that Dunblane Massacre in scotland in the 90s, which caused UK to ban handguns. I dont understand why people do that, there must be a psycho gene in people

There appears to be several mobile phone videos. All this is so shocking. Virginia Tech was the number 2 school on this list of where I wanted to go, Georgia Tech being the first. Its just scary what some people do.

God bless those that died and their families.

I hate to say it but, the liberal politicians will be all over this with gun control talk(again).

I dont think he ment that type of gun control. Theres already strict laws on Automatic assult rifles. All of them have to be registered and you pay yearly to own them. You also have to have a spotless record. However, putting more control on citizens because of this is nuts. Guns dont kill people, people kill people. If someone wants to do something like this they will find a way to do it, and no gun control can ever prevent that. It was only a matter of time before this happened at any campus in America. Its very sad this happened but theres not a whole lot that could have been done to prevent this.

Not sure if this was true, and I'm not one to add to speculation, but a friend of mine linked me to some pages on Facebook and Livejournal supposedly to the shooter's pages. Apparently, the person taken out in the dorm was the ex-girlfriend. There were pictures of him with basically an arsenal. A dozen or so old rifles/bayonettes, another picture using a sub-machine gun on a range... The livejournal page noted that she dumped him...I see a chain of events unfolding...

Edit: Here's another link I found...

Edit again: Confirmed that the above mentioned dude is not the shooter.

Thats the reason I heard he did it, because his girlfriend wasn't in the dorms or something really insignificant like that. I read about this as I was leaving for work and did think it was true at first. Dont know why, so I went to VT website and they had something on there about it. Then I read about it on CNN.com and sure enough. I guess I knew it was true, its just hard for me to grasp when its something that major. Take Sep. 11th. when I heard about it, it just didnt seem real. Then I was watching the news with the rest of the school (was in high school at the time) and remember asking where the other building was before I knew it fell. I just cant understand why some people do the things they do. Especially when its something this tragic. I had a friend that wanted to go there, and to think if he was one of the 30 that got killed, what it would have been like.

I have a friend from VA who, thankfully, goes to SVA in NYC (School of Visual Arts).
