First of all, you need some tools.
"Bart's Boot Image Extractor" http://www.nu2.nu/nu2files/bbie10.zip "ModifyPE 0.81" ftp://ftp.externet.hu/pub/mirror/sac/util...og/modpe081.zip A patched "Uxtheme.dll" (thanks vortex!) which is available in several places, for example http://www.flexbeta.net/gsurface/uxtheme_2003.zip Extract modifype to your system32-directory, so you can use it from command prompt. Extract the patched uxtheme.dll to your c:\-root. Now you have to fix the checksum header, and when you replace the original with this file, you can start using different themes immediately after enabling the "themes"-service. If you don't fix the checksum header, Windows installation rejects the file as "damaged". The switch "-c" corrects the file header. Next, copy the Windows Server 2003 -CD to a temp folder to your hdd. In this example, I copied to C:\W2K3STD. Then move the service pack to C:\ -root. In this example, I'm using the SP1 beta build 1039. Now, grab the bootsector: extract bbie.zip to C:\, launch "Bart's Boot Image Extractor", bbie.exe from command line. Type bbie X:, where X is your CD-drive (with Windows Server 2003 CD in it!). BBIE makes a file called "image1.bin" to your CD-root. ![]() Almost done Slipstream with a -s -switch. Command "[SP-filename] -s:[target folder]", check image: ![]() When hitting enter, you should see this kind of screens: ![]() ![]() Now you can pack the patched uxtheme.dll with Windows' own packer, makecab. Also, copy/overwrite the file in the "i386"-folder. Command "makecab [filename]" archives the uxtheme.dll to uxtheme.dl_. ![]() Burning with Nero Select CD-ROM (boot) and set the boot things like in the following image. Search the bbie-created *.bin from C:\-root and so on. ![]() Set the long filenames etc, also, you can give a name to the CD, like "WINDOWS" ... hit "new". ![]() drag the whole folder to be burnt - so that your CD looks like this (setup.exe and i386-folder in the root...). Burn! ![]() There are many ways to install. You can upgrade your existing OS with this CD, or do a clean installation. Get your themes from www.belchfire.net, or themexp.org, or whatever. Happy burning!

No bother at all, this is why the forums are here, to discuss and to trouble shoot If you have some cd-r's to spare, I would say go ahead and try it, it might work. -------------------- ![]() |

XP CD is okay - I don't believe 2000 works as I have never tried that. As regards the 16X, look at my drive, it's a DVD+/- -burner, I don't really care about the speed, I like my drive when I can burn whatever I want with it BBIE can extract the boot sector also from the iso-image. So, if you have downloaded the trial enterprise 2003, write bbie [filename].iso and you have the Server 2003 bootsector... sorry bad jpg-compression, I just don't want the 56k to wait too long... |

Thank you much for all your help. The only image1.bin that I could retrieve was from Windows 2000.
I attempted with Windows 2003 and Windows XP Pro and always received the "Invalid boot record indicator." I'll try again another time and once again, thank you for all your help. If something I can help with, please let me know. Regards, Asi Voy |
