An older article that I found, but still interesting.
One of the really nice things that Microsoft added to Vista was three different power plans, and also provided the ability to create your own if you so desire. Don't let the names fool you.

For seven months, New York Times reporter David Rohde was held by Taliban kidnappers. During his captivity, both his newspaper and Wikipedia kept quiet about his plight. Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales reportedly agreed to a request from The New York Times to delete all references to the kidnapping on Rohde's Wikipedia entry.

Decoding Battery Life for Laptops

Two things about battery-life measurements for laptops: First, they usually bear little relationship to reality. I don’t know about you, but my “five-hour” battery often dies halfway between J.F.K. and LAX.
Second, laptop ads always use that essential tool of wiggle-roomers everywhere, “Up to.” As in, “Up to five hours.”

No matter what people thought they heard Steve Ballmer say in Chicago, Microsoft is not planning to introduce a successor to the Xbox 360 next year.
In a blog posting on Thursday night, Microsoft said that the Xbox 360 is "not even halfway" through its current lifecycle and will be here long into the next decade. The company is planning to introduce a new gesture-recognizing controller, code-named Project Natal, and that is expected next year, although Microsoft says it isn't talking timing with regards to Natal.

Opera Unite benchmark

Opera Unite can do up to impressive 800 requests per second on reasonably modern home hardware, even with dynamic content.
You can't DDOS a person via Opera Unite! (Unless you can sustain exactly 13 connections per second, no more, no less, but even then it's just takes 1 core and connection piling doesn't happen. (No overload)

Social networking sites like Facebook must maintain a certain degree of openness in order to attract users. Who wants to use a site where you have to unlock so many doors in order to communicate with someone? However, that openness must be balanced with security. Scammers and phishers are happy to take advantage of trust and friendliness in order to score a buck.
