Research firm Kantar Media found that awareness of IPTV has yet to reach the mainstream with only 42 per cent of the population knowing of its existence. It also found that Virgin Media subscribers were most likely to use IPTV, with 63 per cent using its on demand service, while only 42 per cent of Sky viewers used IPTV.

Another one bites the dust. A couple of weeks ago, Fox.com was atop our list of Websites that could still be accessed on Google TV to stream full episodes of content. Well, you can go ahead and cross Fox off that list, as they are now blocking Google TV devices.

With the disappearance of an OS monoculture, attackers would do well to find attacks that are neither OS or application specific. One way to do that, of course, is to target attacks at hardware.

It’s the official HTML5 test that praises IE9's HTML5 features. The W3C has spoken, the IE9 is the best HTML5 browser. But my question is: How credible can the test be, if you discredit it yourself and if you quietly change the results?

Following the fork in the open office suite development and the foundation of The Document Foundation, the dispute with main sponsor Oracle appears to have come to a head. Canesta makes 3D sensing technology aimed at natural user interfaces. The company, which only has 60 or 70 employees, confirmed it had entered an agreement to sell its products, technology, IP, customer contacts and the rest to Microsoft for an undisclosed amount.

Shocking news that its Flash Player, Reader and Acrobat software have a vulnerability that could potentially allow hackers to gain complete control over computers. At this point, most will be thinking that only Microsoft Windows users are affected but no, this particular vulnerability does a number on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Android and even Solaris users.

The tablet market is starting to heat up, with Apple moving 7.5 million iPads so far this year, Samsung's Android-based Galaxy Tab rolling out next month, and RIM set to launch its Playbook first quarter next year. Netbook maker Asustek will throw itself into the ring beginning in January next year, starting with a Windows 7-based tablet and following that up with several Windows 7 and Android tablets.
